Mission Statement & Philosophy
We are a Catholic parish school, serving economically and ethnically diverse students in grades Kindergarten through eighth. Founded in 1927, the Church is in the center of our school both physically and spiritually. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Educational Association. The school is supported by a Parent Teacher Organization, a School Board of Trustees and the generous parishioners of St. Philip the Apostle Church.
Our Mission
The mission of St. Philip the Apostle Schools is to provide each student an environment in which the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical needs are met. As an essential component of the teaching ministry of St. Philip the Apostle Parish, the school provides an exceptional education by integrating Catholic values with high academic standards. The school embraces diversity and mutual respect and seeks to inspire each student to adopt their unique role as a child of God.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy of Catholic education is one dedicated to educating the whole person, emphasizing the dignity and spiritual development of each child. The total instructional program is intended to stimulate intellectual, religious, psychological, social and physical growth, thus enabling our students to become responsible Catholics.
Facts about Saint Philip the Apostle School
St. Philip’s dynamic student body of 527 mirrors our region’s range of race, ethnicity, and socio-economic background. Nearly half our students are non-white. 12% percent are non-Catholic. 47% are families with one wage-earning parent. Our tuition is kept as low as practical to attract and retain the broad spectrum of our parish, and $93,000 in tuition assistance is available to those in need. At the same time, we have a successful tradition of offering excellent academic and extra-curricular programs, and once again have received a six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Additional on-going support is provided by our parents, parishioners, and extended community. Catholic teaching, service, and values are at the heart of all we do. The school embraces diversity and mutual respect and seeks to inspire each student to adopt their unique role as a child of God.
