sunday 7 pm candlelight mass
"Our earthly liturgies will never be more than a pale reflection of the liturgy celebrated in the Jerusalem on high, [... But] may our own celebrations nonetheless resemble that liturgy as closely as possible and grant us a foretaste of it!"
— Pope Benedict XVI, Homily in Paris, Sept. 12, 2008
Spiritual life at the Newman Center centers on the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Sunday 7 PM Candlelight Mass is a sacred moment to enter into quiet reverence before God, where college students and young adults serve as lectors, altar servers, sacristans, ushers, musicians, and extraordinary ministers.
The 7 PM Mass is followed each week by an evening of fellowship or dinner. During warmer months, a wine and cheese social takes place on the patio most Sundays after Mass.
sacred music
Our singers and organist are composed of young adults from the Newman Center. They draw from a 1,200-year treasury of Catholic music, spanning from Gregorian chants to four-part hymnody, to glorify God and aid the congregation in worship of him.
Please see sample music here. Please email Daniel to serve musically!
